Using APIs to connect with an AI solution

Using APIs to connect with an AI solution is something we’ve seen trending. Once you know how you want to utilize a chat-based AI addition to your software, you can mock against the OpenAI spec with Blackbird (without paying to hit the live service like you would need to do if you were working outside of Blackbird in a live test environment).

Let’s follow the path of choosing the OpenAI API spec that is pre-populated in Blackbird. Three clicks and we’re done:

In the product we will click “Add API” > “Third Party API” and select the OpenAI API > click “Accept” button.

Step Two:

Launch your Blackbird Mock Server

Typically, setting up a mock server for teams presents many potential problems, but one of the most potent problems developers run into is the time it takes to spin up a mock server.

Blackbird solves this by giving you an instant, sharable mock that is one click away after accepting your Spec to create your mock server.

In the product after you’ve clicked “Accept” for your spec, you can edit your API’s unique identifier information (or wait and do that later). You’ll notice a toggle that says “Mock Instance” that is defaulted to create a Mock for your API once you click “Create API” Blackbird.

Share your Mock with your Team and Start Validating

Now that your Mock is stood up, you can visit your mocked instances, copy your unique, sharable URL for your OpenAI API mock and start testing your endpoints.
